Bengaluru: The Directorate of Tanah Urban Transportation (Dult) on Tuesday issued a notice to issue permits to regulate and operate public bicycle sharing (PBS) and shared the Micro Mobility (SMM) system in Bengaluru.
In October 2018, Dult introduced a permit system for PBS without being degunted in Bengaluru.
“Although permission is given to four operators to operate 4,300 cycles in the phase-i cluster consisting of regions such as HSR layout, Vidhana Soudha etc.
Only one operator is operating the system with a strength of 2,300-approved cycles” in the cluster parts “said Dult notification.
“Due to previous notifications for licensing licenses in the selected cluster and is a one-time activity, there is currently no scheme for new operators to submit and get permission for the PBS system.
Furthermore, the introduction of new devices recently like a trrottle-bicycle-bicycle-bicycled pedal, moped electricity (e-mopeds) and e-bikes with the throttle also requires this update, “he said.
The PBS system includes bicycle e-auxiliary bikes without throttle While SMM includes electric moped (e-mopeds) and / or e-bikes with throttle.
“The purpose of this scheme is to encourage the use of PBS and SMM systems to provide first and final connectivity to public transportation and for short distance trips,” he said.
“Operators must provide at least the strength of the 500 fleet.
In the event that the operator applies to PBS and SMM, the minimum fleet power will be 1,000,” he added.
