Guwahati: Assam Unit from Congress on Thursday submitted a quarter against Padma Shri Awardee Actor Kangana Ranaut for allegedly making a statement of defamatory to the father of Mahatma Gandhi and other freedom fighters, who had struggled for Indian independence.
In Fir, The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) stated that freedom in 1947 was obtained because of the sacrifice of Mahatma Gandhi along with thousands of martyrs.
The party said comments by Ranaut were humiliation of great souls.
“The statement has hurt people in this country as well as family of Freedom Assam’s fighters.
His statement, which is intentional, is included in the incitement category,” said FIR.
PCC PCC has asked the police to “take the necessary actions according to the law to immediately order actors”.
Kangana, while speaking at the top of last week, triggered controversy said that freedom in 1947 was “Bheek” (alms) and India received real independence in 2014 (referring to the powerful BJP).
Following his statement, people from all walks of life have criticized it.
Netizens also demanded that he restore Padma Shri who said that he did not deserve honor.
