Bengaluru: Senior IPS officers and former Police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao on Thursday announced the voluntary pension of the service, ending 31 years his career as a police officer.
A IPS officer from the 1990 batch, Rao became the 35th Board of Commissioner on August 2, 2019 and held a position until July 31, 2020.
At present the Director General of Police (ADGP), he still has three years of service left.
Rao said he felt the government put it aside, making it difficult for him to continue the service.
“My conscience doesn’t allow me to continue the service in such conditions.
When my service is not considered in the way they should, I will be a burden on the government.
Therefore, I made a decision to call it a day,” he said.
Asked whether he would join politics, Rao said: “I have no plan like that now.
But I really believe in the saying that God has his own plan for each individual in his own way.”
