Bengaluru: A 64-year-old man from Dharwad lost Rs 25 Lakh to a gang that showed him forged documents that interesting business funds were stuck with RBI and they needed money to be released.
Raja Ram Jevaji Bettasur, a resident of Dharwad, met Madhusudan, one of the gang members, when he came to Bengalaru a few months ago.
Madhusudan sent fake documents to Bettasur with the help of his colleague Sridhar Murthy.
They claimed that they needed Rs 25 lakh to get the funds released for Murthy.
Bethtasur didn’t know Murthy and Madhusudhan worked together.
He promised his agricultural land for Rs 10 Lakh and took Rs 15 Lakh as a loan from his friend Sangamesh.
Bettasur transferred Rs 14 Lakh to two bank accounts provided by Murthy’s helpers and gave Rs 11 lakh cash to gang members in Dodakallasandandra on Kanakapura road on June 24.
The gang member then sued Bethtasur to set Rs 10 lakh.
However, Bettasur felt something wrong and submitted a case of cheating against Sridhar Murthy, Kanharaju, Madhusudan, Naveen Kumar, Shivashankar and Manjunath.
