Guwahati: The day after a 14-year-old girl was killed in the Uzanbazar area of the city, the police on Thursday arrested the victim’s cousin on charges of killing him.
According to the police, following the argument on Wednesday, Dimple was stabbed and was hit with a pressure stove by his 18-year-old cousin, Abhishek Gupta aka Ashik.
Deputy Police Commissioner (Central Police District Guwahati) Rajveer said: “During interrogation, Abhishek claimed to have killed the girl after a fight between them.” The police also recovered dimple cellphones, which were lost after his death, and some SIM cards were destroyed from the nearest house, where the defendant had hidden items.
Two Abhishek friends have also been picked up for interrogation.
