Guwahati may have crossed the top of the 3rd Covid wave: experts

Guwahati: The capital of Assam Guwahati, the gateway to the northeast, may have crossed the top of the third wave on January 18 and 19 when the overall daily peposititivity level surged more than 20% in Kamrup (Metro) which attacked nearly 2,000 cases or one from the total case of the country .
Health experts say the level of infection has shown a continuous downward trend in the last five days here, indicating that the peak might end.
Even after uniform testing during mid-January, the highest 1,996 and 1,929 cases were detected in kumprup (metro) each on January 18 and 19.
The last 15 days have been worried about the third wave in this city.

“Covid is unpredictable since day 1.
But our observations in the last 15 days gave the impression that we had crossed the third wave of Omicron induced almost a week ago,” Ganesh Saikia, Director of Joint Health Services, Kamrup (Metro), told TII on Monday.
At 13,337, Kaseload the last 10 days (from 14 January to 23) had been much higher in Kamrup (Metro) than other districts.
