Chandigarh: The Punjab High Court and Haryana have issued a notification to the Government Haryana and Public Service Commission Haryana (HPSC) on the Urdu exception as a subject of civil service Haryana (executive and allied services) competitive examinations.
Haryana only offers Hindi Literature, Punjabi and Sanskrit as an optional subject in prestigious examinations.
Hiting out that even the constitution recognizes Urdu as a national language under Schedule VIII, Mohammad Imran (35) from Nuh Haryana Regency moved the High Court and looked for instructions to the Haryana Government to enter Urdu as an optional subject for the main examination of the A group and post HCS advertised On February 26, 2021.
Justice Arun Monggu asked the Secretary of the Chief Haryana and HPSC to submit their reply to this issue on September 9 According to the Petitioner, Urdu should be included as an optional examination because it has the largest number of speakers in this country and even the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) stipulates that candidates emerge for an all-india civil service exam that is advanced in Urdu and has learned it as part of their curriculum or as a maternal language they can take Urdu as an optional subject.
“HPSC has adopted a very strange process in making an appointment on HCS with capable pulsating candidates in urdu or who studied Urdu as their mother tongue because in the main exam list, Urdu has not been included and thus puts the future of candidates who recognize Urdu is at stake.
HPSC actions are arbitrary and truly unknown legal, “the applicant was delivered.
He also told HC that Urdu was officially recognized in India and had an official status in the Delhi National Capital region because the language had the root in the area through the medieval history of the sultanate and the kingdom.
The applicant, who had completed all his education in Urdu, added that he would lose his legitimate rights because he was not allowed to take Urdu as an optional subject in the HCS exam.
Discrimination is suspected: Applicants highlight that Haryana’s exception from Urdu from the list of optional subjects for competitive examinations amounts to discrimination vis-a-vis languages that have been included.
