Pathankot / Jammu: The day after the army helicopter fell to the Ranjit Sagar Dam near the Basholi area of Kathua Regency in Jammu & Kashmir, the pilot and co-pilot were still missing even when the Navy Divers joined the search operation on Wednesday morning.
Kathua Ssp Ramesh Kotwal said the search was suspended at around 7:30 p.m.
on Tuesday and continued at 8 am with naval divers took over the operation.
He added that regardless of all the efforts of the two pilots had not been found.
The Dhruv helicopter belonging to the Army flight squadron placed in Pathankot departed from Mamun Cantonment at 10:20 a.m.
on Tuesday and hit a dam near Petthu in Basohli.
The search team had restored several parts of the helicopter floating in the water but there was no trace of two pilots.
Previously on January 25, one pilot had died when the army Dhruv helicopter fell in the Lakhua district of Kathua District after developing technical barriers.
Kotwal told TII, “The Divers need equipment for deep water search operations.” He said when the main body of the helicopter had not been found, “divers have requested special equipment to continue searching in deep and dark waters.” On Wednesday, the accident video also appeared.
