Chandigarh: The Haryana School Education Department has a shortage of around 40,000 teachers around 14,000 schools run by the state government.
There are also shortcomings of around 6,000 other support staff at school.
Information in this case was placed before the State Assembly on Tuesday by Minister of Education Harwar Haryana in response to the question requested by Nayan Pal Rawat, Independent MLA from the Prithlaa Assembly in Faridabad.
According to information, the department has 46,459 vacancies from different posts, including 398 principals, 112 principals, 13,974 Postgraduate Teachers (PGTS), 20,467 Teachers of trained graduates (TGT), 4,846 primary teachers (PRTS) and 6,662 other supporting staff sweepers / Chowkidar / Peon.
Taking asked about the total number of secondary schools, secondary schools and other schools in the state and number of students, teachers and other staff posted there.
In his reply, the minister told the house that from 24,867 schools in the state, 14,473 was the government and 10,394 was personal.
These include 137 Sansekriti senior high schools.
He said that currently 53.68,539 students are studying in schools throughout the state.
Of these, 25,30,868 students were studying in government schools and 28,37,671 in private schools.
He also told that 1.37,895 posts from the principal to class-IV level level approved for state schools, where 96,535 had been filled.
Students do not need to suffer academically because of the lack of teachers and empty posts will be fulfilled earlier, he added.
For the related request by Gharunda MLA Nirmal Rani (BJP), who wants to know about the government’s efforts to promote shared education in the state, the minister answers that most of the elementary, middle, high and senior senior schools.
He said that currently from 14,473 schools in the state, 12,664 is co-educational and only 1,809 for girls only.
