GUWAHATI: Triggered by incessant rains since Thursday, many regions of the town have been reeling under artificial floods on Saturday.
This has been the effect that a landslide has been reported out of Chandrapur – Panikhaiti main helathcaere center – in which a shield wall fell on Saturday.
But no casualty was reported.
As Friday 8:30 am, Guwahati has obtained 22 millimeter rain, although the town continued to undergo significant showers on Saturday afternoon.
Nalapara, Hatigaon, Games Village, Chandmari along with other areas continued to encounter annoyance, particularly concerning emergency services, as floodwater didn’t recede even at the day.
While citizens are enduring a while because of this waterlogging, commuters are stuck atop knee-high water in a number of areas of the city.
Flood waters also have entered many homes and home campuses of town near Nehru Park, particularly in the Fancy Bazaar region.
Supplying small aid, the IMD has called hefty showers in Guwahati and other adjacent regions within the upcoming days.
A resident of Games Village, Nilutpal Timsina reported that the ten minutes of heavy rain had been enough to flooding the gates of the Games Village since the drain beyond the campus was largely full of vegetable and plastics wastages.
“The water farther comes down in the mountain place behind our campus.
The avoidance of the drain using plastics is an actual problem and the concerned police don’t start looking in to it.
We’ve got emergency service employees at the campus and scenarios such as artificial flood in the heart, not letting them go outside, will affect their participation in health emergency times such as this,” he explained.
Experts stated that Guwahati was among the dirtiest cities since there wasn’t any significant urban planning.
Because of absence of pure water and reservoirs, that are buried, specific roads and roads are turning to water stations.
“The town has to be reconstructed again using contemporary scientific strategy,” Pranjit Das explained.
“You will find 39 regions in the city that are vulnerable to waterlogging.”
