New Delhi: Health Minister Karnataka K Sudhakar met the Health Minister Union Harsh Vardhan here on Tuesday and demanded that the central government supply more doses of Covid-19 vaccine to the country.
Karnataka has provided nearly 2.4 vaccine doses so far, which is the highest among all states of South India, said the minister at the meeting.
Sudhakar is visiting two days to the national capital.
Besides Vardhan, he also asked several other central ministers, including Gajendra Singh Shekawat, Piyush Goyal, Irani Smriti and Hardeep Singh Puri, and discussed various problems related to the country.
In the representation to the Health Minister Uni, Sudhakar said Karnataka had around 13,000 vaccination centers with capacities shown to manage 10 doses of lakh per day.
“Therefore I ask the Indian government to increase further supply so that the state can facilitate vaccination of every citizen who wants and who fulfills the earliest requirements,” Minister said in the letter.
Sudhakar also briefed Vardhan on the way the state government had succeeded in minimizing the waste of vaccines.
To minimize waste, the district was told to prepare a microplan and increase the increase in field staff capacity.
“As a result of this, eight districts in the state have achieved negative waste,” he said.
The Minister also told that people in Karnataka are now eager to be investigated, thanks to reduced doubts and increased awareness.
The Minister of Health also demanded that the central government establish the regional centers of the Mental Health and Neuroscience (Nimhans) and the Kidwai Memorial Oncology Institute in cities such as Mangalore, Kalaburgi, Hubli and Hassan.
He also looked for additional grants for four medical institutes sponsored centrally.
In a separate meeting was held with other minister, the Minister of State Health demanded several projects and funds for the development of the constituency of Chikkaballapur’s house, which is located almost 60 km from Bengaluru.
The Minister of State asked the central government to develop Chikkaballapur as an industrial city, focusing on increasing the surface of the ground and fresh drinking water, in addition to the extension of the suburban railroad and the Bengaluru Metro to Chikkaballapur.
He also sought central support in establishing the Allied Science Institute in the Chikkaballapur district.
Sudhakar is scheduled to meet Finance Minister Union Nirmala Sitharaman and the others on Wednesday.
