Bengaluru: The fight for political dominance in Heartland Vokkaliga from the old region of MySuru has begun to follow the Ayatra President of the KPCC DK Shivakumar who is looking for the implementation of the Mekedatu project throughout Cauvery, Lifeline South Karnataka.
Through this outreach program, the 59-year-old leader seems to be looking for the vokkaliga community champion, which consists of 15 percent of the country’s population, ahead of the 2023 poll because it will hold the key to the Congress to the power.
There are 70 seats to be contested and their proximity to the Hub Power, Bengaluru, making the region more important for every party who hopes to win the assembly selection.
Traditionally, the Vokcaliga community always supports HD Deve Gowda and his family.
But since 2019, the support base of JD (s) among Vokcaligas has eroded, following a series of polls, especially in his fort, which leads to mass defection.
Shivakumar, a Protege of the former Minister of Main BC Krishna, now at BJP, sees it as a great opportunity to step into Gowdas’s big shoes by taking public goals.
There are many in Congress who recognize that none, including Shivakumar, can match Deve Gowda when it comes to influencing the community.
But many who also felt none other than Shivakumar to replace him since HD Kumaraswamy, which was seen as a substitute for Deve Gowda, has increasingly lost trust in party members.
There is also a perception that Gowdas has placed family interest in front of the community and continues to lose land even in their Fiefdom from South Karnataka.
But it’s more easy to say than to do.
Shivakumar’s career had followed the track up since his first victory in the constituency of the Sathanur Assembly in 1989.
He had won all the next elections, shifted to Kanakapura seats in 2008 after the former election was not there as a result of restrictions.
While its financial influence has increased various, according to a written statement submitted to him before the Election Commission, his political influence has been limited to Ramanagara and rural Bengaluru for the past 15 years and he has not been able to emerge as a mass leader.
The picture was hit after he was raided by income tax officials in 2019.
Senior Congress Official BL Shankar said the recent shivakumar platform has provided the perfect shivakumar platform to achieve its goals to bring up strong vocligions and it’s just a matter of time.
“Shivakumar doesn’t have to overthrow Gowda to become a community leader.
When Deve Gowda was at the peak in the 1990s, SM Krishna had made space for himself and a leader appeared and even became CM,” Shankar showed.
“Deve Gowda is undoubtedly a champion of the vokkaliga community but not Kumaraswamy.
Shivakumar, through the soyatra, has sent a clear message that he will represent the community after Gowda but not Kumaraswamy,” said Ramesh Babu, former JD (s) MLC and Congress Officials .
