Jorthat: A Office employee Deputy Commissioner Jorhat was arrested on Sunday for allegedly giving unpleasant comments on social media against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The person arrested was produced in front of a local court and sent to the trial.
The man has been identified as Abhilash Dutta (30) from the Bongal Pukhuri Pub area in the city of Jorhat.
Abhilash is an employee at the Branch of Bakiijai in the Deputy Jorhat office here.
The complaint was submitted by the Secretary General of the other Backward class BJP (OBC) Morcha, Binoy Likhok, who is also an advocate in Jorhat.
Likhok told Tii that he filed a complaint before the officer responsible for the Jorhat police station after seeing the defendant’s post on his Facebook account against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Abhilash Dutta uploaded posts in his FB account against Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday.
Dutta used a slang to abuse the prime minister.
When he saw it, I personally sent a message to him through Messenger with a request to remove posts.
But he threatened me with a terrible consequence Demanding Rs 1 lakh from me instead of removing posts, “said Likhok.
“Even after my request, the defendant made an unpleasant comment against PM.
Find the option, I submitted a legal action that tried to fight it.” Police officer Jorhat-in-Charge Chidananda Borah said, “When he received a complaint that he had used a rough language against The Prime Minister, we arrested the Dutta of his residence in Bongalpukphuri’s pub and produced him before the court today (Sunday).
The court has sent him to 14 days of judicial detention.
“
