Bengaluru / Kalaburagi: Even though it only won four of a total of 55 seats in the election of Kalaburagi residents, JD has demanded the Mayor’s post, quoting it as a prerequisite for alliances with BJP or Congress.
The election, which was held on September 3, had produced a hanged verdict, with Congress won 27 seats, BJP 23, and one independent.
Mark halfway is 28, and this makes Four JD CANPORATORS KINGMAKERS.
JD, which has had a coalition with BJP and Congress in the state government and various local agencies, targeting the main post in North Carnataka where it has a little presence.
JD (s) Supremo HD Deve Gowda reiterated on Thursday that members of the Senior Congress Malikarjun Kharge had contacted him and sought support.
“We oppose seven seats, win four and lose two.
This sets our strength,” he said.
There are several indications that Gowda and HD Kumaraswamy are not on the same page.
While Gowda leaning towards Congress, Kumaraswamy seemed to look at BJP.
Some reports say Congress might be willing to offer a mayor’s post to JD, but BJP doesn’t have such a mood.
The Chairman of the Minister of Bumavaraj Bommai on Thursday declared the confidence of having the Mayor of BJP in Kalaburagi City Corporation, said that discussions about the alliance with JD (s) were at the initial stage.
On JD’s request, Bommai said: “Talks with JD members are still on, but surely, BJP will get a post.” Kharge, a member of Rajya Sabha, said that Congress had received a mandate to support it, adding that he was related to Gowda and who would get the role of the mayor had not been decided.
“I have talked to Gowda and appeal to him that the secular parties must unite.
I am sure he will help us.
I do not want to talk about the position of mayor now; maybe it takes time.
Let’s see,” Kharge said.
BJP President Nalin Kumar Kumar Kateel and Kalaburagi Minister Murgesh Nirani held a discussion with members of the Party and Members in Kalaburagi.
The four members of the board JD reportedly lived in Kumaraswamy’s farmhouse in Ramanagara district amid fears that they could be hunted.
