Many young men in the region were interested in becoming a Jockey Kambala, especially after the famous jockey, Shrinivas Gowda, received a national recognition for the record he created, pushing some observers to call him Slushy trajectory bolts.
The Cambera season began in November and lasts until April every year.
Even though it brings a cash prize of RS 5,000 or more or gold coins, it’s more about prestige and honor to participate in the event.
Abhijith Pandeshwara, member of the Moodahadadu Pandeshwara Sasthana Moodahadu team, told TII that the region was famous for traditional (Harake) of Kambala and many fans participated in the competition held in the Dakshina Kannada district which was not divided.
“We have many fans and customers, the buffalo has won prizes.
But they cannot do routine practice because of the lack of tracks.
Therefore, we decided to build a track at a spell of private land with 30 Kamba fans, who had worked on this project for almost one Moon, “Abhijith said.
Sources said major events in the Calendar Kambala include Moodbidri Kambala, Miyar Kambala and Puture Kambala.
There are two types of golams: traditional sports held in November and December; And the capital version began in the second week of November and wrapped up in the first week of April.
Traditional Kambala events usually begin during the day and end at night, followed by Puja in a temple.
These events are mostly held in Udupi and Kundapur.
Bajigoli Lava-Kusha Jodu Kere Kambala held in 1969-70 indicates the arrival of modern curs and these events held on artificial lanes.
At least nine buffalo pairs have been taken to the newly created track to practice since the inauguration four days ago.
Questions about track gradually increased, said Abhijith, a commentator and cooperative bank employee.
Organizers do not charge entry because they want to make a new talent collection.
“In the long run, we hope to have a Jodukere of Kambala Track (or double track) and arrange a Kambala event.
However, it will depend on the success of this project,” Abhijith added.
In addition to local Panchayat support, this project was guided by KV Ramesh Rao from Shri Raktheshwari Temple, Pandeshwar, Kamba Protective Ganesh Poojary Melbettu from Sasthan and Tim, and Kambala Jockey Gopal Mudddumane Shiroor.
