Bengaluru: The recognition supervision committee has sent a notification to three dental colleges in the state to impose excessive costs for the PG course, report Sruty Susan Ulla.
The committee headed by Justice B Manohar has asked college to restore additional costs or they must show the reason why the action should not be initiated against them for violating the consensual agreement.
Universities sent Notifications are Rajarajeshwari Dental College and Hospital, Bengaluru; Oxford Dental College, Bengaluru; and Maratha Mandal Dental College, Besavavi.
Colleges have been accused of collecting Rs 1.2 lakh more than the cost specified.
According to the agreement signed between the government and the Association of Religious and Linguistic College of Karnataka and the Association of Professional Universities in Karnataka, Universities can collect RS 3.6 Lakh for the Chairs of Government Quota and Rs 6 Lakh for private quota seats.
In addition, other costs of Rs 15,000 a year and transportation costs can be collected.
Universities can also charge an additional fee of Rs 30,000 as a skill fee, if they provide it.
According to complaints received by the Committee, when students go to college for reporting, college authorities “demanded and forcibly collect Rs 1.2 lakh against dental materials and clinical costs”.
