Bengaluru: After months Dilly-Dallying, BSP MLA N Mahesh was issued from Kollegal (District Chamrajnagar) joined BJP officially on Thursday.
Join Mahesh means BJP now has a calculation of 120 MLA at home.
In the midst of many fanfare, even though there are restrictions on Covid-19, Mahesh joined the party in front of the Chairman of the Minister of Basavaraj Bommai, the State President of the Nalin Kumar Kateel Party, former CM and BJP Patron BS Yeddiyurappa and his son, Vice President of the Party B.
Mahesh, who is part of the part First of a broader coalition with JD (s) and Congress in 2018-19 and a minister in the HD Kumaraswamy government was expelled from BSP in 2019.
He missed the voice of trust in the Kumaraswamy coalition regime despite the order from the National President of BSP Mayawati to choose the Kumaraswamy regime.
Since then, Mahesh has moved closer to BJP and is considered a “asset” by the Safron Party who tried to build a cadre base in South Karnataka.
Speaking at the joined event, CM BOMMAI said the additional Mahesh for BJP would help the party build a cadre base between Dalit and backward classes in the south of Karnataka.
When asked whether Chamrajnagar Mla would join the cabinet Bommai said: “Not until now.” Speaking to the media channel, Mahesh said he was sure that BJP worked towards the increase in Dalit and that he was convinced that the room was available for him to build BJP in the old Mysuru area.
