BENGALURU: The Karnataka government on Thursday expanded the statewide lockdown — that was to finish on June 7 till 6am on June 14 and declared another relief package of Rs 500 crore which will directly benefit over 60 lakh employees in unorganized industries with one-time financial aid.
TOI, at its Thursday edition, noted that the government would expand the lockdown with per week and unveil another tranche of aid bundle.
All of present constraints on economic activities, movement of vehicles and people will last until mid-June.
Explaining the reason for the conclusion, the leader minister BS Yediyurappa said the amount of energetic Covid instances and new illnesses has come down considerably, however the transmission series hasn’t yet been broken in several areas.
Just export-oriented businesses are permitted to run with 30 percent of their staff power.
The country was under lockdown because May 10.
It has been shown to be successful because the daily Covid caseload has fallen out over 50,000 on May 5 to approximately 16,000 over June 2.
The aid package of Rs 500 crore would help educators of private schools, weavers, fishermen, Asha and anganwadi workers, sailors, workers in movie business, temple priests, muezzins and powerloom employees.
The aid package would assist 62.5 lakh individuals, Yediyurappa said.

Yediyurappa said that the lockdown will be raised”entirely to permit all actions to restart later June14″ when the Covid positivity rate drops below 5% throughout the state.

The government has chosen to offer 500gm of cocoa powder to authorities college pupils for May and June.
Micro, small and medium businesses received relief together with the authorities composing off monthly fixed fees levied on them May and June.
Other businesses are given time until July 30 to cover the fixed fees.
Approximately 3 lakh businesses will benefit from this step, the CM said.
The CM maintained disbursement of cash aid declared for 70 percent of autorickshaw, cab drivers and workers in unorganised industries from the very first bundle will begin shortly.
Workers coming below the second bundle will get aid from 2-3 days.
The Karnataka Small-Scale Industries Association, decided to exempt MSME from payment of fixed prices on electricity for May and June and concession of Rs 3,000 for powerloom employees, said the authorities ought to have done more for the industry.
