Bengaluru: A 40-year-old housewife suspected of killing her two children before hanging her at her residence in Prakruti Layout in Madanahatahalli near Nelamangala, Bengaluru Rural, on Friday.
The deceased is P Vasantha, Yashwanth, 15 and Nishita, 6.
Her husband Vasantha, Prasanna Kumar, a BMTC-cum-conductor driver, has surrendered to Covid-19 in the mid 2020 encouraging family into a deep financial crisis, police said.
Vasantha left the three-page death record written on Kannada, where she admitted that her husband’s death and the next challenge had pushed it into depression.
The incident was revealed at the end of Friday when Vasantha Nandish’s younger brother visited his house after his sister failed to answer his call.
Nandish and some neighbors peered through the window and saw Vasantha and Nishita hung from the ceiling fan of the bedroom and Yashwanth which depends on the fan in the hall.
Nandish said Vasantha was treated for depression immediately after her husband’s death.
“He underwent treatment for more than four months.
But he was sad after his husband’s death and the financial crisis, which we could have been resolved, also did not help.” By stating that he had lived with his sister’s family for about five months after Kumar died, Nandish said he moved to Dasarahalli after his marriage.
“Yesterday, my brother’s friend Renuka called me to say he was standing outside his house and no one responded.
Renuka wanted to buy Vasantha’s house to live in.
I tried to contact my sister on her cellphone, but was in vain.
Then I came to the house,” he said.
The source said Kumar raised a loan of Rs 20 lakh from the bank for the construction of a house four years ago.
The police said in his death record, Vasantha wrote: “No one will come to help and I realize it.
Nothing helps us when my husband dies.
I am not interested in life without my husband.
We have raised loans and now I have a responsibility reply to paying.
I ask people who care to pay our loan.
I don’t want to cheat anyone in life.
No one is responsible for our death.
“Police said the neighbors had seen Vasantha out of the house and turned on the water motor in the morning.
“He is seen somewhere during the day too.
The incident might have happened after 14:00 or 3 afternoon,” police said.
The family came from Periyapatna near Mysuru.
