BENGALURU: 1,000 fulltime and contract workers of Karnataka authorities have whined to Covid-19 and about 1 lakh workforce was infected with the virus as March this past year, based on informal surveys by workers’ institutions.
“Based on department-wise data gathered by our institution, 518 full-time workers have expired of Covid-19 since previous year.
The complete number of workers who’ve perished of Covid-19 is over 1,000 when we take into consideration data supplied by other institutions that have contracted employees as members,” maintained CS Shadakshari, president of the Karnataka State Government Employees’ Association (KSGEA).
Other institutions are the ones of contract workers and employees, ASHA employees and anganwadi teachers that aren’t full-time government workers.
Therefore, they don’t come beneath KSGEA.
There are 6.5 lakh government personnel.
The government has provided Rs 30 lakh ex-gratia into kin of individuals who have died as a result of Covid-19 and occupations to dependents according to their education eligibility.
“Around 400 teachers have lost their own lives, chiefly in Kalaburagi along with Belagavi branches.
This is because many of these were sent to election responsibility,” explained Karnataka Chief School Teachers’ Association president Basavaraj Gurikar.

At least 21 woods department employees perished of Covid-19.
