Mangaluru: Timely and Fast Action by the Guard Coast India (ICG) has saved life of seven fishermen in trouble because the fire was hit by IFB Varanyaka-I fishermen boat.
Short circuits at Wheelhouse are thought to be the cause of a fire accident.
The fishing boat is at a distance of 10 miles of the sea from the Karwar lighthouse.
When received a message by Mrsc New Mangalore at 10pm on Friday from the coastal security police, Malpe C-155 from Karwar immediately sailed for the search and rescue of the mission and for assessing the incidence and evacuation of fishermen.
ICGS C-155 reached the place and immediately swung into the action of watering the fire after making sure the seven crew shifted to a fishing boat near Vajra IFB.
The operation to fully extinguish the fire was completed in about three hours.
When assessing that there was no possibility of further fire fighting, C-155 gave all assistance to IFB Vajra to attract fishermen’s poor fishermen to Harwar Fishing Harbor.
“All fireplaces are in good health,” said Venkatesh, Commander, Coast Guard, Karnataka.
