Chandigarh: The Punjab government on Friday submitted a RS 50 Lakh check each into the family of four farmers and a journalist killed in the tragic incident at Lakhimpur Kheri from Uttar Pradesh in October 3.
Minister of Agriculture Punjab Randeep Singh Nabha met with a disadvantaged family in Lucknow and Submit a check.
The minister also welcomed Suo Moto notices taken by the Supreme Court and demanded a time probe bound to ensure justice for the victims.
The four farmers who lost their lives in Lakhimpur Kheri Tragedy were Daljit Singh from Bjaran Tada Village, Gurwinder Singh from Navi Nagar Mohira Village, Lovepreet Singh from Bhawant Nagar (Chokhra Farm) and Nachhatar Singh from Namdar Purwa in Amethi, besides a Raman Kashyap journalist Village Nighasan in Lakhimpur Kheri.
Nabha said the Punjab government always supports farmers’ agitation of three agricultural agricultural laws.
“The Punjab government has provided government work to one member of each of the grieving families from 157 farmers, who died during the ongoing agitation,” Minister of Agriculture said.
