Mandya: Three Sisters – Ankita (19), Rachana (17) and Varsha (15) – Balaghatta Village, Pandavapura Taluk, and their parents hijacked their farms by hand because they were unable to buy oxes or machines for the job.
Shashikala’s mother said the family had 2 hectares of land fed and they depended on their livelihoods.
They grow millet and other plants and sisters have helped their parents since childhood.
Shashikala said: “We have a pair of bulls three years ago, but had to sell it because of financial difficulties.
We have no choice but to the ground by hand.
Our daughter helps my husband Cheluvaraju.” Sisters have done academically academically academically.
Rachana, for example, scored 80% in the 2nd and 90% PUC exam in the SSLC exam.
Sisters said: “We know our financial problems and and we are not too ambitious.
We hope to do it well after our study so we can keep our parents and grandfather.
We don’t feel bad about plowing land but we are proud to live an independent life.
“They asked the district administration to help them buy a pumpet as Borewell had been excavated in their land under Ganga Kalyana Yojana.
CS Puttaraju, MLA, the assembly segment of the melukote, told Tii he would visit the family on Saturday and would help girls in their education and help families financially.
