Bengaluru: Prohibition of state governments, political leaders, celebrities, officers, government staff, assisted and private child care institutions celebrate their birthdays and their children at children’s care institutions have raised a mixed response.
On October 16, the government issued orders stating that outsiders’ birthday celebrations would have a negative impact on the mental health of those who lived in the institution.
Vasudeva Sharma, Executive Director of Trust Child Rights Trust, Bengaluru, said that even though their intentions celebrating such parties may be good, the problem begins when they hold it in institutions and things can be painful for prisoners when they are forced to applaud and dance for Entertaining boys or girls.
According to Sharma, people celebrate their children’s birthdays at childcare institutions do it with intention to create awareness among their wards about other poor children.
He said several institutions witnessed a birthday 3-4 a day.
“Detainees of teenage houses and childcare institutions are not spectators or children on display like animals in the zoo.
When they do not celebrate their own birthday, why should they celebrate another child’s birthday or someone.
Children should not be forced to Celebrate other people’s birthdays only for a piece of cake or chocolate, “Sharma added.
After the party, the image is usually uploaded on social media, revealing the identity of children, which is a violation of the Youth Justice Act.
Sharma said when he was the Chair of the Child Welfare Committee, many children who lived in such institutions told him that they felt very sad during such a party because they reminded them that no one celebrated their special day.
However, ManganaHesh GK, the founder of Samarthanam Trust for the disabled, said: “Small institutions will be financially beaten by the decision.
The government alone cannot do everything.
It requires support from people to run institutions and for the overall growth of children Children.
“Some parties see good clothing distributed among children and they are also issued with sightseeing, he added.
Mangana said as a child, she used to visit orphanages and teenage houses with parents.
“It helped me understand the problems of the children and inspired me to start Samarthanam,” he added.
