Haveri: Expert Committee, which was based on assessing the reasons for high mortality in Haveri Regency, has found more Covid-19 patients died at night because of doctors’ duties.
Experts found that because of the lack of monitoring by doctors on the night shift, many patients seriously died, especially at the Haveri District Hospital.
The report said, very often at night, “doctors did not enter the Covid ward and patients suggested by a junior doctor and nurse staff from the entrance to the ward”.
The Committee consists of Dr.
Basavaraj Kallapur and Dr.
Ishwar Hasbi from the Institute of Medical Sciences Karnataka (KIMS), Hubballi, and Dr.
Sampathsing Rangawale, a senior specialist.
They have sent their recent reports.
Experts say other reasons for the high number of deaths are unsatisfactory processes to identify symptomatic patients.
This causes delays in shifting patients to covid care centers or hospitals for timely care.
“Patients are not accepted on the ICU or wear ventilators even though it is available at a government hospital,” said the report.
The lack of death audits is another reason.
Private doctors in the Toothe Error Committee also blazed private doctors, said many deaths occurred during the second wave “due to incomplete treatment”.
The report said private doctors did not refer patients who were seriously ill to a bigger hospital on time and they did not follow the protocol while caring for Covid-19 patients.
The Committee also found that private doctors did not refer to the alleged Covid-19 patient for the swab test quite regularly.
The committee said 87 patients were referred to from private facilities to the district hospital when this disease was in the final stage, and around 50 patients had directly approached the district hospital when their oxygen saturation was less than 30%, indicating poor field activity.
“This is one reason for a high mortality rate in the Haveri district,” said the report.
Private hospitals have denied findings.
“We follow all the protocols while caring for patients,” said Dr.
Ravikumar Malladad, President, Ima, Haveri Unit.
“There are no questions about personal doctors who do not take care of patients without testing reports.
The department must carry out a training program for private doctors about what they should do when treating Covid patients.” We have received a report by the Expert Committee.
The government will adopt their advice for curb death and will begin actions against those who fail to release their duties, “Dr.
KV Trilok Chandra, family welfare department, commissioner, health and family welfare.
