Bengaluru: Greeshma Nayak N, the daughter of a Tumakuru farmer, scored 96 percent in grade 9, but lost the ticket to school because it did not pay fees.

On Saturday, the Primary and Secondary Education Minister S Suresh Kumar visited the family home and convinced him that he would not lose all year.

Greeshma and her family lived in Hanumanthapura, Tumakuru District.

His father, Narasimha Murthy, said that despite financial difficulties, he paid Rs 35,000.
“But the school says that it will acknowledge my daughter to class 10 only after full payment.
We don’t want to waite; we only want more time,” he said.
He added: “My daughter knocked all the doors for help, wrote to various government departments and educational officials in Tumakuaru and Dakshina Kannada.
Officials refused to intervene, said it was a problem between school and parents.
