BENGALURU: Without a transportation choices available because of the lockdown, a 45-year-old dailywage employee petitioned his rickety bike for 300km more than four days to purchase life-saving medications due to his 10-year old kid dealing with a chronic neurological issue.
Anand, by Ganiganakoppalu village at T Narasipura taluk, approximately 30km in Mysuru, needed to get pills to his child on Wednesday night.
Since his son has been diagnosed with the disease, Anand was seeing Nimhans, Bengaluru, each 2 weeks to have pills free of charge.
Doctors have advised him to not miss a single dose of medication because of his child as any disturbance might set back the treatment strategy through the years.
Together with the lockdown projecting his scheduled trip Nimhans in May from equipment, Anand mulled numerous possibilities, like a train journey, to achieve Bengaluru.
He pleaded with buddies to borrow scooter or a bike, but he said that a polite’no’ due to fears which the vehicle could be seized by cops to get lockdown offenses.
This was Anand chose to pedal all of the way and picked the less-popular Kanakapura course because of his traveling from Mysuru into Bengaluru and back house, all adding up to well over 300km.
With time running from the Wednesday deadline , Anand took off his bike away from his village at 3am on Sunday (May 23) with Rs 600 at the hand.
“The bike is outdated, barely holding together, however, I began nevertheless.
I spent Sunday night in a temple at Kanakapura taluk, roughly 60km in Bengaluru.
On Monday night, a Banashankari resident at Bengaluru gave me shelter and food.
I accumulated medications from Nimhans ancient Tuesday.
Nurse Suvarnakka helped me much in receiving the pills early.
A physician who inquired of my situation gave me 1,000.
I set off in my return travel around Tuesday afternoon and reached home on Wednesday evening,” he explained, adding that he was glad that his son didn’t miss a single dose.
Aside from the child, the couple have a girl.
“After reaching home, I noticed pain in my waist because of continuous pedaling for four times.
I met with a physician and took medication.
I’m back in the office today,” he added.
