Bengaluru: The Chairman of the Minister of Basavaraj Bommai on Tuesday asked the center to provide Rs 4,300 Crore for the implementation of the Karnataka Optical Fiber Network (KOFN), which aims to provide high-speed Internet connectivity in all government offices, including Panchayat.
Bommai submitted a request during a meeting with Union IT, Minister of Electronics and Communication Ashwini Vaishnaw in Delhi on Tuesday.
In a memorandum, Bommai said that because the presence of limited Bharatnet and the presence of telecommunications telecommunications companies at the Panchayat level, the state government cannot meet the terms of 25,000 office connectivity and government institutions.
“To overcome this problem, the state has formulated KOFN projects at the cost of Rs 4,300 Crore, which includes network maintenance for 15 years,” he said, urging the center to fund the project.
The Minister of Chief asks Vaishnaw, who is also a train minister, to consider Karnataka’s proposal to extend the corridor of the Bengaluru Suburtur Project, Chikkaballapur, Tumakuru Bangarapet, Ramanagara, Hosurballapur.
He also looked for a faster land submission to the Rail Karnataka (Krida) infrastructure development company for stations and trajectory construction under the phase 1 project.
Bommai requested Vaishnaw intervention to get a concession agreement signed between the train, state and krida government.
The state has sent the draft agreement, determines the rights and obligations of each entity, to the train.
Previously on Tuesday, Bommai met with the Minister of Finance Union Nirmala Sitharaman and looked for more funds for Karnataka under the ‘One District One Product’ Center scheme.
“I asked for FM to ensure Nabard and SidBI implemented microfinance schemes and massively in our country,” he said.
Sitharaman convinced him that he would issue the direction needed.
Bommai plans to meet with the National President of BJP JP Nadda on Wednesday and can find a nod to fill four jobs in his cabinet.
He was reported under pressure from the cabinet hoping.
“I haven’t got an appointment with the party’s president.
I will try to see him before leaving for Bengaluru,” he said.
Bommai was accompanied by a dozen ministers, who attended the wedding reception of Minister of Princess Prales Pralhad Joshi in Delhi.
