BENGALURU: Even though the Covid-19 vaccination drive isn’t yet completely available to everyone from the 18-44 age group, nodal officers responsible for authorities vaccination centres say they’re bombarded with recommendations from politicians and VIPs looking for the jab for those that they refer.
Most nodal officers are distributing to the pressure.
They request that the vaccine-seekers to fill the qualification certification and that must be signed by designated government.
Many vaccine-seekers wind up promising to be Covid volunteers or health care employees or people with comorbidities.
The officers maintain a listing of individuals who have been given vaccine from turn and they were known by.
“We do not take the chance of registering the qualification certificates.
When it is a government worker insured under the priority category, that has to be endorsed with papers,” said a physician.
When contacted, Dr Arundhathi Chandrashekar, assignment manager, National Health Mission, Karnataka, said the officers must go by the instructions.

“Vaccination pushes are causing more anxiety,” said an officer, describing the non-cooperation confronted on the job.
“According to the government directive, relatives of healthcare employees aren’t contained in the priority classes.
This can be known to physicians as well as nurses.
But they need their kids, spouses, nieces and nephews from the age category of 18-44 to become vaccinated.
While I decrease, they become frustrated and angry,” the physician stated.
The other nodal officer at a government hospital explained several requests would be to issue certifications to the vaccines obtained elsewhere.
“Some individuals have obtained the vaccine outside of turn, but haven’t obtained certificates since they weren’t qualified.
They ask me to issue certifications, which will be odd,” explained the physician.
The vaccine certification includes the batch number of the vaccine, title of the nurse that gave the vaccine together with the date and location where the vaccine was first taken.
This is necessary to ensure monitoring the vaccine document if adverse event following immunization (AEFI) is documented.
Vaccine-eligibility certifications are uploaded to Co-Win portalsite, but it’s a blackhole as nobody further assesses their validity.
“The qualification certification is obtained only as long as the individual develops an AEFI.
Thus, there are lots of fake comorbidity certifications on Co-Win,” a source said.
