Silchar: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has urged the Head of Minister of Assam Himanta Buswa Sarma to stop the Hindustan (HPC) Corporation Paper (HPC) auction and revive two state paper mills, which are HPC units.
The Cachar AAP District Committee submitted a memorandum to Sarma through the Deputy Commissioner (Cachar) of Kerli Jlu on Thursday and appealed to him for the resurrection of two industries who were sick.
Committee members told the media that Barak Valley had one minister and 14 legislators and many problems in this valley could be resolved if they raised their voices.
“What is their point of view on the factory problem,” one of them said after sending a memorandum.
It stated that the paper factory employees had suffered because of their non-payment of salaries for more than four years and many employees even died, the party said the state government had to think about their condition and start the right steps for the resurrection of the factory and pay employee contributions.
AAP Members call two factories in Kerala and Madhya Pradesh (Hindustan Newsprint Limited and NEPA) said the government of each country has revived their own industry and that the Government Assam must follow in their footsteps and reopen the two factories.
“About 2 lakh people are associated with industry for their livelihoods.
The government must treat this problem based on priority and take the steps needed to make a functional factory and pay employee contributions,” said Memorandum.
Nagarik Swartha Rakha Sangram Parishad, a social organization, also filed a memoranda to the Minister and Dholy Mla Parimal Suklaabaya and 14 other legislators from Barak Valley appeal to improve factory problems in the upcoming budget session to revive the sick factory and pay employee contributions.
Two Paper Factories – Cachgram Paper Factory in Panchgram in Hailakandi District and Nagaon Paper Factory in Jagiroad in the Morigaon District – Have lied non-functional since October 2015 and March, 2017.
Their employees did not get their respective salaries for 55 and 53 months , According to trade unions, at least 91 employees have died, including four who committed suicide.
