Bengaluru: National Secretary General of BJP CT Ravi expressed controversy on Thursday by asking Congress to open a hookah bar at his head office in Bengaluru and name it after former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
Ravi, who talked about the controversy “changed the name” behind the Indira canteen in the state, said the Siddaramaiiah government had chosen a name for political reasons.
“If they want to do politics, then let them open the bar, the hookah bar, in their office and change the name as Nehru Hookah Bar.
We cannot entertain politics when it comes to public spaces,” he said.
The former minister has begun the debate about the replacement of the Indira canteen as the Annapoornesheshowhwari canteen, as soon as Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced the replacement of the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award for the Major Dhyanchand Khel Ratna award.
Ravi also tweeted that Gandhis has changed its name to almost all public spaces, except for public toilets, in this country.
“…
The only place where the names of Nehru Dynasty missing are public toilets.
Why did the Congress government not name them?” He asked.
Congress hit Baccoposition leader Siddaramaiiah said Chikkamagaluru MLA had no history and sacrifice made by Nehru during the struggle for freedom.
“Ravi is the National Secretary General for BJP and must be responsible when he talks about someone.
We cannot, and will never speak to leaders such as Atal Bihari Vajpayee and LK Advani.
Ravi needs to study history and respect,” he said.
KPCC President DK Shivakumar said Ravi’s statement showed his party culture.
“Let Ravi ask the leaders to who dedicate the name and agree.
Only after consulting with BJP leaders and getting their signatures that the indira canteen name was resolved,” he said.
