GUWAHATI: After nearly six decades of line borders between countries, punctuated by bloody conflicts and lying pending in the Supreme Court for more than three decades, Assam and Nagaland are now in the same page for the “out of court settlement” to a vexing problem.
Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Monday said in Kohima, “We had a useful discussion on the subject of the border with Assam CM in Guwahati yesterday.
Neither the state government supports settlement out of court.” Rio added that delegations from both governments will likely be met with the Minister home Amit Shah States early next month and formulate a process for resolving disputes along the 512-km border between them.
In August last year, Nagaland Assembly has adopted a resolution that the inter-state border dispute with Assam settled out of court and with the involvement of local communities in both countries.
Assam and Arunachal Pradesh have agreed to find a solution out of court for inter-state border disputes those aged decades.
On Monday, CMS of the two countries decided to conduct a survey on the basic rate limit status.
