Guwahati / Aizawl: Mizoram has vowed to protect his limit from the alleged aggression of Assam, even as the Head of Minister of Assam Himanta Buswa Sarma told the Assembly Assam on Monday that since 2016, there were more than 40 incidents of encroachment from the side of Mizoram.
Minister of Home Mizoram Lalchamliana at a press conference on Monday said the Mizoram government did not want to be the first to blow in border problems with Assam, but was ready to take steps to protect the territory of the country.
He said the state government strongly condemned the acts of updated violence “by attack to Mizoram land” recently.
“Assam official entered Mizoram and created a disaster in Chalchhunga’s land in Hamarilet Barkep last week by damaging the plants,” he said.
“The destruction of individual properties by Assam officials is illegal and we demand that the Assam government must pay adequate compensation to land owners and plants,” he said, adding that the state government would also pursue this problem.
The Minister of Home Affairs said that a large number of state police personnel were sent to the border area to protect the territory of the country also to maintain the lives and properties of the people living in the Mizoram-Assam border area.
More troops will be sent if the situation is needed, he said, adding that the requirements of police personnel are being taken care of.
He asked people to bear with the government, if there was a problem arising because of tension in the border area with Assam.
He appealed to political parties and other organizations in the country not to pamper themselves in the blamed game or to take mileage from border disputes, but still unite in this problem.
Mizoram shares the border of more than 160 km with Assam and border disputes continues to simmer during the years of the district council, when Mizoram is the United area and also after becoming a full state, he said.
“The tension in the border area has been witnessed several times where the Assam government is an aggressor on every occasion by sending its officials including police personnel,” he added.
In a written reply to the question by opposition leader Debabrata Saikia, Head of Minister of Assam Sarma, who also maintained the department of the house, said there had been more than 200 incidents of encroachment and aggression from neighboring Assam.
It was stated while the three districts in the South Assam Barak Valley – Cachar, Karimanj and Hailakandi – have underwent the burden of encroachment or aggression by people from Mizoram, Cachar Regency has noted the highest.
The 25 incidents since 2016.
The cachar bordering area remains a bone of dispute in the ongoing upheaval between Assam and Mizoram.
A total of 16 incidents were reported in the Hailakandi District, one in Karimganj.
Written statements say except West Bengal and Manipur, there are many efforts from other weighting rings countries to violate the territory of this state including Pradesh Aitmachal, Nagaland, Mizoram and Meghalaya.

Among the three were arrested, two came from Nagaland and one from Meghalaya.

Sarma on Sunday confirmed that Assam would protect his constitutional limit with Mizoram with all his strength after the criminals allegedly triggered several explosions near the Assam-Mizoram border on Sunday, he said the Assam police would not be blocked by the tactics.
“The situation of the Assam-Mizoram border remained tense for the past six months.
The situation has not improved as we expected.
But in the past month, we have ensured that no one from the side of Mizoram can interfere with Assam,” Sarma told the media in Guwahati ,
