Guwahati: A hero’s speech was given to the Winner of the Lovlina Borghain Olympic medal when he arrived at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBI) at around 9:30 a.m.
on Thursday.
The 23-year-old girl, who made history by becoming the first to win a medal for the country at the Olympics, was greeted by the Head of Minister of Himanta Buswa Sarma with a hug at Tarmac.
Originally from a remote village in the upper Garmhat District Assam, he stepped into a boxing ring eight years ago.
Sarma patted Lovlina on her back before presenting it with the ‘Gamosa’ traditional assamese (hand towel), ‘Juti’ (traditional headgear) and bouquets.
Accompanied by Borah’s Buman Minister and Minister of Parliament Pijush Hazarika, he left the airport under strict security.
The red carpet welcome awaits him outside the airport.
Lovlina boxer colleagues, including the winner of the Jamuna World Championship Medal Jamuna Boro, the leaders of several organizations, including Assam (AASU) students and officials from their good sports and sympathizers with Gamosas.

“Lovlina has sparked a billion dreams with its success at the Tokyo Olympics and establishes an example for beginner sports talents in rural areas to aspire to achieve large on the world stage,” said the ministerial head.
