Jorhat: Majuli, the ancient chair of Vaishnaviate culture, preparing to hold one of its biggest festivals, “Raas”, from November 18.
In addition, Satras (Vaishniviate Monastery), several organizations and institutions will celebrate a three-day festival in more than 55 places in Majuli.
Satra Students will also arrange the Raas Festival in Auniati, Dakhinpat, Uttar Kamalabari, Natas Kamalabari and Garmur with joy and traditional spirit.
This festival will be held by Sanmilita Shilpi Samaj in Playground Majuli in Kamalabari.
Minister of Himanta’s Minister of Himanta Buswa Sarma will inaugurate the Festival on November 18 before the Union Minister of Sarbananda Sonowal, Minister of State Ranoj and Busal Borah and the culture of Majuli Dambarudhar Nath as a special guest.
Actress Assam based in UAE Jharna Phukan Hataruah and Popular Actor Latumoni Saikia appeared during the festival.
Meanwhile, district administration from Majuli and Jorhat has introduced special steps in the neematighat for tourists visiting Majuli during the Festival.
The government has introduced several additional ferries, and passengers have been asked to order tickets online.
Administration has also released special SOPs such as children under the age of 10 years and people over 65 years will not be allowed to take part in the Raas festival.
Jagat Hazarika, organizer segments and social workers, told TOI: “SOP issued by the government has partially influenced preparation.
As the role of children in the drama to do ‘Sishulila’ cannot be avoided in Raas.”
