Guwahati: A total of 34 officials of Assam Power Distribution Limited (APDCL) have been ordered for allegedly sucking total RS 1.94 Crore since 2017 by forging medical reference certificates and replacement bills.
“From the General Manager Assistant (GMS) to Class-IV employees have been found involved in utilizing medical replacement by forging signatures of members of the state-level medical reference council, former Head of General Manager (Human Resources) and APDCL Managing Director.
While the bill never reached The CGM Office, HR and MD, officials receive a medical replacement amount, “APDCL source said.
The company has so far recovered during the RS 90 Lakh of the total funds simplified by its workers.
The state-level medical reference council consists of the Principal Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) as Chair, GMCH supervisor as a member secretary and three members.
A government official must submit a medical reference certificate, approved by the medical board along with medical replacement bills, to each department.
Of 34, one is a GMS, two are junior engineers and the other are class III employees and grade-IV.
The source said the department’s investigation had begun to explore further relationships and captured the kingpin in the department.
“Kingpin must be in the department, who falsify signatures.
We have sent documents to forensics and are waiting for the results.” Omar Faring Investigation Officer said: “Probe is taking place into this case.
Nothing is captured so far.” Fraud was revealed after The GMC authority submitted three separate firs for 41 APDCL officials, the Ministry of Basic Education and the Ministry of Finance at the Bhangagarh police station.
The case has been submitted against all 41 accused of under the 120B section (criminal conspiracy), 468 (forgery for cheating purposes), 471 (the use of forging documents or electronic records as genuine) and 472 (make or have a fake seal with the intention to do forgery) from IPC.
