Guwahati: Chairperson of the style of self-formed rebel clothing, the FRONT Liberation of Democrats (KDLF), Jackson Ronghang, was killed in a meeting with police in the Anglong car in Assam on Friday.
Police said Ronghang was allegedly involved in the kidnapping of three construction workers on December 10.
One Amarjyoti bright recently arrested from Rongmonwey in connection with the kidnapping of three workers from the construction site of the bridge in the village and based on his leadership, three other people suspected of being involved in the kidnapping were identified.
One of the hostages was saved while the remaining two construction workers had not been traced.
Acting on the tip-off of the presence of Ronghang in the forest near the village, the police launched a search operation in the area and Ronghang was injured in a shootout between police and militants in the morning.
He was taken to the nearest hospital, where the doctor stated he was taken dead.
The gun, several cartridges and several documents were confiscated from militant ownership killed, police said.
