Guwahati: After the increase in fuel prices, LPG cylinders and kitchens, milk prices rose by Rs 3 per liter in the capital from Friday.
Previously, one liter of milk sold for RS 51 in the wholesale market and 53 liters in retail.
Now, one liter of milk will sell for Rs 54 per liter in wholesalers and RS 56 per liter in the retail market in the city.
The Greater Guwahati Dairy Association Associament Padam Basnet said the decision to increase prices has been taken after a price increase on the source.
“Dairy farms have increased prices.
We are only entrepreneurs.
We also have no choice rather than increasing prices.” As many as 1.60 lakh liters of milk are sold in Guwahati per day involving a total of 520 people.
Meanwhile, city hotel owners have indicated an increase in candy prices and other dairy products immediately.
Basnet said, “Guwahati’s breeding Gou Palak Sangshtha (BGGPS) told us in writing in April this year that it will climb milk prices.
However, this problem continues to apply after we ask not to make such a decision in the middle of the Covid-19 situation .
But, this time, they have increased the price.
“It can be mentioned that the cost of the LPG RS 883 cylinder, gasoline Rs 99 per liter and Mustard oil 200-220 per liter in the city.
The increase in fuel prices has affected the price of vegetables and other important items too.
