Silchar: High-level probes will be carried out until the death of truck drivers from the Cachar district in prison in Mizoram on Wednesday, Minister of Water Resources and Information and Public Relations Pijush Hazarika said on Friday.
Minister Assam said the level probe would be carried out in connection with the mysterious death of the Dholy driver assistant in Cachar District Nripen Singh, who was found dead in a prison in Mizoram on Wednesday.
Nripen Singh Dholai in Cachar, who was arrested from the Mamit District District in Mizoram on January 30 on charges of killing his truck’s colleagues Prabin Kumar Singh, was found dead in prison on Wednesday night.
His body was handed over to the Assam police on Thursday morning after his autopsy was carried out in Silchar Medical College and Hospital.
After post-mortem, Nripen’s body was brought to his home village Rampasadpur in Dholai to hand it over to family members, who refused to accept it.
Thousands of people came out on the streets in protest against his death.
