Guwahati: The proposed visit from the Minister of Health Union, Mansukh Mandaviya, to the northeast on August 17 is expected to send a clear message to the region that must attract socks before the third wave of the Covid-19 strike, the source of the Ministry of Health, said.
Ne countries, which are considered safest in this country during the first wave of pandemic, are now rated among countries with the highest number of cases.
The health ministers of all the northeastern state will be in Guwahati during the review by Mandaviya, but Manipur and Mizoram will be the talk points.
“Despite confirming the highest number of cases during two waves, the situation in Assam has shown a significant increase.
But it does not happen with other countries in the area where the daily case continues to rise,” a source in the Ministry of Health told TOI on the day Saturday.
Small countries like Mizoram have 10,618 active cases now.
This is a large number if we compare it with larger countries such as Bihar and Uttar Pradesh where the daily numbers are around 500.
The daily level of peposititivity in Mizoram is 7-10%.
8,654 Active Cases Assam may not be considered high because the country recorded more than 5.78 lakh cases from March 31 last year.
Manipur remains closest to Assam with 6,671 active cases even though it has around 1.07 lakh cases confirmed during that period.
The Mizoram health department cannot track the reasons behind the spread and nature of the virus.
“There is no explanation of why active cases are still high.
We carry out mass testing to stop the virus from the spread.
Basically this virus spreads in a state and not because of air passengers and those who enter the country through air or arterial routes,” Director of the National Health Mission ( NHM), Mizoram, Dr.
Eric Zomawia, told TI on Saturday.
He, however, hopes for a gradual decline because the level of prospective has fallen from more than 10% reported about two weeks ago.
The health department’s sources say that the review of the meeting of the Ministry of Health Union can end in formulating a new strategy to load deployment.
“If the third wave attacks, Ne can report a large surge.
This could be because other countries have seen a surge and state in this region have not experienced the peak,” the official added.
Assam, who reported the highest 3.6 lakh case on the second wave in NE, has been able to fully vaccinate only around 24.21 lakh people among 2.31 Crore 18+ population.
The lowest of 1.67 lakh (1,67,632) the second dose was given in Nagaland.
Despite the smaller size of the country and a rarely distributed population in hilly fields, a total of 12.5 lakh people will receive their second shot in Nagaland.
“A large number of people have not been fully vaccinated in the northeast.
If the third wave attacks now, it can change the disaster.
The situation will increase if not.
The position of the front depleted even in Mizoram, although not equivalent to Assam less than 1%,” the official added.
Health officials felt that immunity among people had risen through infection or vaccination.
Consider the acceleration of inoculation drives, they hope that a large number of people can escape the third wave wrath.
However, they are not sure whether the case will fall in winter, like in the first wave.
“Last year, we did not see many cases during the winter.
But no one knows what’s on the card,” said Director of Assam NHM, Lakshmanan S.
