Many passengers say e-bicycle taxis will be a good, cheap choice considering auto service or taxi there is no shared in the city.
A senior transportation official who claimed there was no taker for the scheme.
“We accept a few questions but they don’t want to invest in new electric scooters.
They need to be interested in registering electricity bikes / scooters as bicycle taxis.
A new electric bicycle will cost RS lakh 60,000-1.2, so they will have to spend more than Rs 1 Crore for 100 bicycles.
They all want petrolrun bikes that will be allowed under this scheme, but we have no plans like that, “he said.
Rapido has operated a non-electric bicycle taxi in the city since 2016.
It was not available for comments.
The two-wheeled Bounce rental company app, which has just been launched by Infinity E1 (electric scooter with a swappable battery), expressed interest in the project.
Vivekananda Hallekere, CEO and Co-Founder from Bounce, said the company might apply for permission to operate e-bike taxis.
However, taxis are based on Ola’s aggregators, which have just launched an electric scooter, have no plans for the launch of e-bicycle taxis in the city.
