Manali: Tourists from Madhya Pradesh died because of the outdoors in Sarchu, the night of the road is popular at the Highway Manali-Leh, on Sundays.
According to Lahaul-spiti SP Manav Verma, Suneel Kumar (40) returned from Ladakh along with his wife, two children and a driver.
“He died at the army hospital in Sarchu.
The main reason for his death is a height disease,” he said.
Verma said many tourists did not follow the acclimatization protocol, needed to avoid altitude disease and could proven fatal if avoided.
“Tourists must get a height slowly, take small cessation for better acclimatization.
The exact break and hydration are also needed.
Some people consider it lightly and get a height without breaking the trip and without acclimatization, which results in altitude disease,” he said.
On June 22, Deputy Commissioner Lahaul-spiti Pankaj Rai has announced the establishment of an oxygen bank in all districts, which can be used if a mountain disease occurs.
One of the oxygen banks was proposed to be established in Sarchu.
