Bengaluru: The owner with a technology company in Qatar and six artist films among nine people arrested for allegedly kidnapping an advocate of 34-year-old city for ransom on September 20.
Abhay R Kulakni, resident of Basaveshwaragar, was kidnapped from near the hotel at the Stage Nagarabavi II on September 20 morning.
“Abhay left the house at 9:45 a.m.
He called Abhay and a stranger answered the phone saying that they had kidnapped him and demanded Rs 10 lakh for his release.
“That person said he would send a number that I had to leave whatsapp message and they would share the location where I had to go with cash at 14:00,” Varun said.
He called him at 4:14 a.m., said because he did not carry money, the ransom had been upgraded to Rs 30 Lakh.
“He said if I failed to hand over cash, my brother would be killed.
Our family decided to approach the police,” Varun said.
The four special teams were formed and they traced their kidnappers and prisoners into an office near Byadarahalli, outside the Magadi road.
At 11:30 a.m.
on September 22, the police stormed the office, saved the advocate and arrested the suspects.
The suspects were M Siddesh, 31, a investor and Vijay Kumar G, 33, who carried out his firm in Qatar, residents of the RMV II stage; Nelson Kumar F, 23, from Hosur Road, a guard, and film artist Yuganand G, 30, and KS Naresh, 30, from Vidyaranyapura, L Arun Kumar, 29, JJ Nagar, R Yuvaraj, 31, New Guddadahalli, Ashok K, 31, from Doddaballapur and Sanjay, 27, from Bommanahalli.
