Bathinda: Punjab may do quite well in the PBB Sustainable Development Goals (SDGS) with a score of 68 with two notches above the national average of 66 and rank 12 on the Niti Aayog sdg index, but when it comes to the company’s social responsibility spending ( CSR).
, the state is less than 1% (0.68% right) of the total funds, placing it in 17th place in this country.
Opposive RS 92,605 Crore funds produced under CSR in India in the last six years since April 1, 2014, when the step began, Punjab only received Rs 631 Crore, or only 0.68% of the total funds, under CSR.
The report was released on Monday by Punjab CSR the authority of Goyal Head Sandeep with data collected by Sattva Consulting, Social Impact Research, Strategy Advisor and Company Implementation.
Secretary of the Head of Punjab Vini Mahajan released a report in a virtual program where the main Secretary Hussan Lal, Rakesh Bharti and HPCL MD Prabh participated.
Education, Health Care and Environment & Sustainability are the core sector which gets the largest pie of funds while the oil, gas, coal and petroleum, telecommunications and automotive industries contribute.
The company must contribute 2% of the average net profit in the last three years.
According to the report, RS 631 Crore CSR funds cumulatively invested for social development projects in Punjab in the last six years.
While 26% of funds have been spent on education, 21% have been spent on health care and 15% of the environment and sustainability.
This is in line with the broader national trends of these three sectors into the highest investment field by corporations, cumulatively taking into account 55% nationally, against 63% in Punjab.
Of the total RS 631 Crore, Punjab received the RS 341 Crore CSR funds in the past two years, contributing 54% of the total CSR funds in the past two years.
The four expenditure companies – HPCL Mittal Limited, Trident Limited, Tractors International Limited and Bharti Infratel Limited – have contributed 25% of total CSR expenditures that have been received by the state for years.
Oil, gas, coal and petroleum and telecommunications are the highest contributing sectors, each of which provides funds of 22% and 8%.
Punjab has 29,761 registered companies (1.67% from India) in 2018 and 365 (1.18%) participated in CSR in the past six years.
