Chandigarh: The level of vaccination of health workers (HCW) for Booster Shots is 9.8%, because there are 25 cases in PGI where reinfection occurs after a shot.
The source said there wasn’t much HCW going forward for a dose of booster, because some were dropped back after Jab.
“There may be two possibilities.
Somehow they have a virus and during the booster shot, it appears asymptomatic to be symptomatic, or they get an infection on the site,” said a public health expert.
From December 20 to date, around 300 health workers in PGI have been infected with Covid.
From January 10, all health care workers and front lines and elderly people with comorbidity are eligible to receive the prudential doses in accordance with the Guidelines of the Indonesian Government.
This must be given after a complete nine-month immunization gap.
“There are studies that determined that the Covishield has not protected against Omicron.
The mixed dose should be given because it has been found more effectively,” said PGI Faculty Member.
Those who have not been vaccinated have suffered covid and severe inpatient.
The third wave began in the last week of December and since then 16 people have died.
“Even though we have vaccinated more than 99% of the targeted population (18 years plus) with the second dose, many deaths come from those who are not vaccinated,” said Yashpal Garg, Secretary, UT.
He said, “The death rate of unvaccination is relatively higher.”
