The Core Rs 200 is allocated to make the settings needed for the third wave, the state government has allocated Rs 205 Crore where RS 150 Crore has been intended for drugs and consumables, Rs 30 Crore for oxygen equipment.
Sequencing a whole genome with a positive sample testing for the variant of Covid concern, Punjab has identified 10 Sentinel sites and sends at least 15 samples per site every 15 days for the sequencing of all genomes.
Positive samples from post-vaccination, re-infection cases, death cases, severe cases, groupings will be sent to sort.
The government is preparing sequencing facilities at GMC Patiala.
