Silchar: Drug traders were injured by police at Assam Karimanj on Saturday night after he attacked the police when they raided a village in the Patharkandi Karimanji area.
Two police officers were also injured in the incident.
According to the police supervisor (Karimanj) Padmanabha, during the attack, five vendors attacked the police and tried to seize their weapons.
While the police opened fire, four of them managed to escape but someone was injured.
Peddler who was injured was identified as a Kawsar Ahmed, a resident of the Banglatilla region in the Patharkandi block from Karimganj.
Kawsar and two injured policemen had been treated at Silchar Medical College and Hospital.
“The police were forced to open fire when criminals tried to seize the police revolver”, Garutu said.
Police sources say that 72 grams of drugs allegedly found from Ownership of Ahmed and further investigation.
The second BJP government, led by Minister of Himanta Minister Buswa Sarma, launched the Crusades against drugs.
Sarma on July 18 was burned and has pushed the bulldozer on drugs worth RS 170 Crore.
