Aizawl: In a joint operation, Mizoram police and officials from their sister agents confiscated 5 metamfetamine tablets near Sairang Village, about 27 km west of Aizawl on Thursday.
The source said the contraband goods, with road values around Rs 10 Crore locally and RS 25 Crore in the international market, confiscated from the ownership of the truck driver, Mantu Kumar Deb (45) and its maid, Subhas Das (33), both Karimanjitas Assam’s residents.
Police said CRX 1512 truck registration no.
NL-01A E-0243, driven by Deb, was also confiscated.
Criminal cases under Section 22 (c) / 29 Narcotics and Psychotropic drugs Act, 1985, registered at the Special Narcotics Police Station in Aizawl.
Haul came after instructions from the head of Minister Assam Himanta Busty Sarma to examine all vehicles from Mizoram.
Assam’s bound vehicle from Mizoram is routinely sought by police Assam since the border of the flare-up on July 26 and left away only after the designated police officer gave a clean chit.
Police officers and excise Mizoram and Narcotics said a large number of drugs and narcotics were smuggled from Assam through Cachar District on the border with Mizoram.
