Hubballi: Post Lockdown, Vendor Street has set up shops in many residential areas.
Many of them lose work because of locking and choosing to become a fruit and vegetable vendor.
Initially many started their new business in front of their homes, and some chose to use autos or pushcarts.
Now, many have set up shops on the sidewalk.
They established a temporary kiosk in a residential area in Gokul Road, Manjunath Nagar, Deshpande Nagar, Keshwapur, among others during locking.
Now most of these kiosks slowly become permanent equipment.
Farooq Shaikh, fruit vendors in Deshpande Nagar said, “During locking, we used to take fruits on pushcart to many areas and people did not let our stay in one place.
But now, it’s been almost two years since we started and people People not only recognize us, but also rely on us.
This encourages us to set the kiosk on the roadside.
“Basavaraj Bendigeri, a vegetable vendor said,” I worked in a clothing store for more than a decade.
Post Lockdown shop owner removes me, after I jumped into a vegetable business and set up a small shop at home.
People used to buy vegetables from home, later suggest me to open a shop on the roadside.
Since then, I have run my business at Anand Nagar.
“Shakuntla Tai, a resident Deshpande Nagar said, “We were afraid of buying fruits and vegetables because of Covid-19.
We slowly start buying vegetables and fruits from street vendors , “Construction activities according to sources, the number of street vendors in residential areas has increased recently due to construction work in Janata Bazaar.
Some vendors are reluctant to go to places where the authorities have established a temporary market and this is also the reason for increasing street vendors.
The HDMC Suresh commissioner said, “We know that vendors have increased in many residential areas.
Officials will visit these places and allow vendors to continue their business if roads wide and pedestrians can run freely.
If the road is narrow and the vendor blocks the movement of pedestrians and vehicles, kiosks like that will be removed.
