Chandigarh: In the midst of uncertainty over the election of the Student Council of the Panjab University Campus (PUCSC), the Student Agency demanded the election in the coming months.
The election of the Student Council has not been held in the past two years due to Covid’s pandemic.
Now the situation looks like control, students have high hopes again.
“If the university reopens, the election must be held.
We will not stop demanding the election,” said Sandeep, a volunteer for students for the community (SFS).
Panjab University Council University Campus or PUCSC is a student association consisting of representatives of the department and other office carriers such as the President, Vice President, Secretary and Secretary along with around 123 representatives of the departments chosen by students from various Panjab University departments.
The last PUPSC selection was held in 2019, where Chetan Choudhary from Soi became president.
PU has not said anything but students are increasing pressure.
“The election must be held in the next two to three months and the authorities must support.
There is no reason for them not to,” said President Pucsc Chetanhary.
“Even if, for any reason, the election is not held, we will still continue to work and help students as active councils,” he added.
Students have also demanded representatives for the Senate and Syndicate.
Senate and Syndicate were selected as decision-making agencies from the University of Panjab.
Students say the body of decision making must have an adequate representation of direct stakeholders, they do.
“The Senate and Syndicate do not have representation of students.
Our request is that the carrier of elected student offices must de facto members of the Senate and Syndicate,” said Sandeep of SFS.
PU Dean, Student Welfare (DSW) Prof.
Tomar said, “The election of the Student Council is about students and their well-being and therefore, because Covid, there are currently no students on campus, we do not know when can the selection be held.”
